The Supervisory Board of the Greek Broadcaster NERIT cannot function, after the resignation of Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board Andreas Zoulas, which followed the resignation of both NERIT's chiefs, Markidimitris and Moronis. The resignation was accompanied by reports of heavy government intervention in the television program, but also for the seizure of 50% of the license fee. Additionally, until further notice, the tender for the selection of the new President - CEO and other members of the Board remains blocked.
As the news column Typologies writes, "after the resignation of Mr. Zoulas, the Supervisory Board can not meet because, according to its founding law, there is a lawful operation when out of the seven members, the remaining five attend. Unfortunately only four are left: the President Theodoros Fortsakis, Loukas Karytinos, Tatiana Karapanagioti and Anna Damianides. Former Rector of NTUA Simos Simopoulos never appeared, and according to some piece of information, has has resigned since the first meetings".
It is worth noting that in the last meeting on October 1, the Supervisory Board adopted a Communication "taking into account the joint letter from Mr. Markidimitris and Moronis, which denounced government intervention in the operation of NERIT, the Supervisory Board denounces unanimously in the most unequivocal way these interventions. We simultaneously express our regret that the resigned chairmen chose to leave without resisting the intervention, which they complained about."
