CEO of new public Greek broadcaster dismissed; nothing worked as expected

Edit: New CEO of Greek public broadcaster NERIT will be Antonis Makridimitris, Professor of Management at the University of Athens. The new public broadcaster of Greece has got into new adventures, as the dismissal of the CEO Giorgos Prokopakis has been announced. He has been accused for the absolute failure to have a "clean start" for the new broadcaster, as in the end the interim governmental service "DT" is extending its operation, with the only difference that the logos and the websites have been slightly tweaked. In particular, the Trust Board of NERIT S.A., in the meeting of Monday 5th of May, "agreed unanimously that there is an inability of functioning smoothly, following the choices of the Board of Directors of the company. This situation has a direct negative impact on the organization of NERIT and cannot continue without serious risk for the public interest and the public service provided."

"So, it was unanimously decided
a) to dismissthe current President and CEO, Giorgos Prokopakis, since he has not meet the statutory obligations
b) the duties of Chairman of the Board and CEO will be taken over by the Deputy Chairman and Managing Director Ms. Catherine Evangelakou, according to the law, until the selection of a new President."

We should recall that Mrs. Evangelakou had submitted her resignation arguing against the administrative decisions of Prokopakis. NERIT started officially a few days ago, having slightly modified the old logos of the interim broadcaster, whereas the recruitment can not be completed and only two radio stations remain in operation nationwide. NERIT was given only limited number of buildings and transmitters of the former public broadcaster ERT, while the rest remain in the Treasury and it is possible that they will be sold.

At the same time, the redundant employees of ERT still keep running the TV channel ET3 and 18 radio stations across Greece.
